The Vision
Durham Public Schools are navigating budget pressures, growing student needs, and critical questions about how we support families and educators. This is a moment that calls for leadership rooted in listening, collaboration, and shared responsibility.
I’m running because Durham deserves a school board member who leads with care, courage, and clarity, not distraction. When we focus only on the loudest conflicts, we miss what’s underneath: unmet needs, broken systems, and families asking to be heard.
I bring a community-centered approach to school board leadership. As a DPS parent, small business owner, and member of civic boards like Durham’s Recreation Advisory Commission and the Greater Durham Black Chamber of Commerce, my experience has shown me that the strongest solutions come from working together with everyone who has a stake — not from making decisions in isolation.
By listening closely and responding holistically, we can move beyond short-term fixes and build schools that support the whole child and the entire DPS community.
Campaign Vision
-
Supporting students emotionally, socially, and academically so they can learn and thrive.
-
Listening deeply to students, educators, and families — and responding holistically, not reactively.
-
Protecting every child, including immigrant and marginalized students, from harm, bullying, and fear.
-
Ensuring teachers have the resources, respect, and policies they need — including paid bereavement leave.
-
Prioritizing clear communication, budget transparency, and accountable leadership that rebuilds community trust.
-
I believe fairness requires addressing root causes and systemic barriers, especially for Black, immigrant, foster, and marginalized students.
-
Helping Durham recover from recent challenges through collaborative, compassionate, community-centered leadership.
